Wow! A somewhat watchable Jess Franco/One Shot Production film. This is a very loose remake of Franco's very own Vampyros Lesbos with the vampire woman being replaced by the title character. A reporter goes off to research an 87-year-old woman who was believed to be a "snake woman". When the reporter arrives she finds the woman to look much younger and soon the "snake woman" gets the reporter involved in lesbian sex and a whole lot more. This is easily Franco's best film in over a decade and his most erotic since probably the late 70s. Thankfully Franco cut out all the disgusting sexual acts and goes for pure erotic scenes and for the most part he has hit a home run. The actual story also works pretty well and the cast isn't too bad either. Lina Romay has a small role that allows her comic cuteness to come through without any ugly sex scenes. The music score is also nice but at 96-minutes the film runs a bit too long. This certainly isn't the place for Franco newbies to start but it's certainly a good return to form for Franco die-hards. There are a couple hardcore scenes as well, which rises (no pun intended) this above other One Shot films.

A true curiosity, “Rasputin, Orgien am Zarenhof” was shot in two different versions, as was sometimes common in Europe in the 1970s and 1980s. One was a pretentious drama spiced up with soft-core sex scenes, while the other grafted on scenes of hardcore pornography onto the film and jettisoned much of the plot.
In 1984 we got another view of Rasputin from Germany, this flick in fact give us quite a few different views of Rasputin, some we may not want to see! A big budget porn film, this entry was made in an attempt to compete with Bob Guccione’s Caligula (1979). Rasputin (Alexander Conte) looks a lot like comedian Chris Elliot. Also, he acts as a sort of partisan for the peasants. Whenever a peasant is being whipped or beaten by a cossack, Rasputin pops up and shoots the cossacks down. Furthermore, he goes to the Palace and fucks all the ladies in waiting. He fucks them and blows his load in their faces, John Leslie style! No, I'm not making this up. They don't just try to kill him once, they try it several times. And at the end of the film he's still living, running the Palace like it's his own. The violence is outrageous in this film, whippings, burnings, shootings in the head, you name it, it's there. And did I mention it runs two fucking hours. I shit you not! Directed by Ernst Hofbauer, this is the most unusual view of the Rasputin story ever told, and is a must for your collection.

Erwin C. Dietrich was the pornographer of Switserland in the 70's. His movies can be compared to the numerous risqué comedies made in German in that period, but were more concentrating on the darker side of sex. In this way he can be compared to Jesus Franco the director that brought us dark, sick porn.
This is early in the 1970's though, thus the porn was limited to soft core sex. In this movie however all women seem to walk about in the nude almost constantly. The storyline is poor and only used as a pretext to show naked bodies. Should you be interested: the plot has something to do with a couple of guys kidnapping girls to put them to work in brothels and nightclubs. In this movie there is quite a lot of soft SM and bondage too.
A lot of stuff in this movie still reflects the usual comedy style in porn so popular in the 70's. And for that some of the top actors of the genre were hired, such as Josef Moosholzer, who appeared in many of the soft core movies in the 70's.

"Reincarnation of Isabel" is a great example of good Euro-trash. It triumphs over its obviously low budget through a combination of gore, unintentional humor, a great score, flashy camera work, and large amounts of gratuitous nudity. It is surprising that this movie has not received a cult status yet, being that it is better than many cult movies. Thanks must be given to Redemption (the company that put this out) for finding a print of this movie, which was long considered lost, and giving it its first domestic release ever.
The "plot" is as follows: A woman named Isabel is burned at the stake when the Inquisition comes to her small village. Apparently they are not too far off, either, because she actually was a witch. Her husband and another local take her body and put it in the dungeon of a castle. Flip to present day: The husband and some of the locals who were on his side have been reincarnated (no explanation is given), and through some twist of fate know it. The husband then attempts to reincarnate Isabel with the hearts of young virgins in some satanic ritual. There is actually much more to the plot (something to do with vampires, and many unnecessary characters), but it all becomes a confused mess. This lack of plot can be forgiven, though, because the plot is not what the movie is trying for.
"Reincarnation of Isabel" is one of the most enjoyable Euro-trash movies, containing everything one has come to expect from this genre. Well, not quite everything. This movie unfortunately lacks in violence and gore. After the violent opening, the movie contains no more realistic effects (it does, however, contain some unrealistic effects. For example, a few "witches" are scratched with sticks, which is fine and dandy (they were topless, after all), but the effect was so cheap it was unintentionally humorous. It was achieved through the use of rubbing a blunt club with wet paint on the end against the skin of the two "witches."). The fake violence was not the only source of unintentional humor; the subtitles were actually much funnier. On the plus side, the acting was surprisingly good and solid, the music was decent, and the direction was pretty solid. It should also be noted that "Reincarnation..." gets better with every viewing. It should be viewed at least twice to get the wanted effect.

I have seen about 8-9 of Ms. Fenech's movies & this incredibly beautiful actress had more quality nude scenes in this film than in any of her other titles that I have viewed to date. As opposed to many of her other films in which she has only 1-2 brief topless scenes, this title provides the viewer with a copious amount of lengthy & well-lit nude scenes (including abundant FFN) in order to sate the voracious appetites of Edwige's legion of fans.

The story takes place in Shanghai. A girl loves a rich and much older man (played by Kinski). She is willing to do everything he wants to show her love, but he is playing a sick game with her. As part of this game he sends her to a Chinese brothel. A poor young boy sees her and falls in love with her. To get the money needed to sleep with her, he joins "the revolution". Additionally the movie shows the fate of some of the other prostitutes.
This film has less S and M and bondage than the original "Story of O", but the sex scenes are much more graphic. There is one obviously unsimulated oral sex scene and another "missionary" scene with Kinski and Illiers that looks pretty unsimulated as well. If you consider this a hardcore porn film, it is a veritable masterpiece. The cinematography is excellent and the musical score is good. There are a lot of poetic images--for instance, a long shot of a dead bird floating in the bay outside the convent, and later a surreal Jean Rollinesque image of a drowned woman floating on a grand piano (?!) in this same bay. Most hardcore porn films wouldn't bother with such arty digressions. As an art film though, which this is also obviously trying to be, it is less successful, mostly because all the characters are pretty thinly drawn
